With this new ASUS SmartDoctor, users can expect up to 25% and 15% performance boosts when overclocking GF8500GT and GF8600GT graphics cards respectively with just a few clicks. With the new ASUS SmartDoctor, users will be able to tweak the clock speeds of the two parts independently – allowing extreme performance upgrades as the shader clock actually influences the graphics cards performance much more than the engine clock. August 23, 2007June 5, 2007Lala will let your music available anywhere.
This new service will find music stored on your PC’s hard drive and make it available online on a “digital locker”. If Lala already has the same songs on its servers, then lala’s version is used. It’s like iTunes, but on the web. You can create Playlists and manage it, and your iPods can be sync directly from the site. Similar services have been introduced before, but nothing quite like this. MP3.com tried out the “digital locker” concept in the past but was promptly sued by labels and lost. Lala, which is in talks with all the major labels, doesn’t believe that this will be a problem, in part because it plans on paying the labels so much in order to stream full versions of their songs (though it won’t pay for the “digital locker” versions of tracks that consumers already own). The reincarnation of Napster also offered free streaming of its catalog, with the caveat that no song can be listened to more than five times in a single month. Napster was also selling subscriptions to music, not music itself, and Lala believes that ownership, lack of DRM, and iPod integration make them different. April 22, 2007Thunderbird 2

Almost two and a half years after the initial introduction of the Google Desktop search beta for Windows, the desktop searching tool will be available as a beta for OS X users later today. After taking some time to round out Google Desktop on Windows, internationalize the software, and do extensive testing, Google Desktops Product Managers Rose Yao and Sundar Pichai told Ars that they built up a strong Mac team to bring the software over to the Mac. Like both Spotlight (built into OS X 10.4) and the third-party utility Quicksilver, Google Desktop offers users the ability perform an indexed search of their entire computer’s contents, including applications, music, photos, chat logs, e-mail, and other documents. “A lot of the most important information to a user isn’t available on the web, it’s on your computer, whether that be on a Mac or PC,” Yao told Ars. “We want to help users search for the data that’s most important to them with Google Desktop search.” March 17, 2007Monitor your Mac and more with GeekTool
